Lancaster man held on $1-million bail in hunting-bow killing

Deputies: Man killed with arrow had tried to intervene in argument between murder suspect, girlfriend

A 23-year-old Lancaster resident was arrested Saturday on suspicion of killing a man with a bow and arrow after the victim tried to break up an argument, sheriff deputies said.

Garrett Adams was jailed in lieu of $1-million bail, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department. The identity of the dead man, a friend of Adams' brother, was not released.

Just before 3:30 a.m. Saturday, deputies said, the victim and the brother attempted to intervene in a quarrel between the suspect and his girlfriend at a home in 43000 block of 27th Street West in Lancaster.

The dispute spilled out onto the sidewalk, where Adams armed himself with a hunting bow and shot the victim in the upper torso, deputies said. The victim was pronouced dead at a local hospital, they said.

A man is in custody but no criminal charges have been filed, officials say

A 27-year-old man died Saturday morning after being struck by an arrow in Lancaster in what is now being handled as a homicide investigation, authorities said.

Deputies responded around 3:30 a.m. to a report of a person struck by a bow and arrow in the 43300 block of 27th Street, said Lt. Slade Carrizosa of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

A man was found injured at the scene and was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital. He was pronounced dead a few hours later, officials said.

The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Garrett Adams, was taken into custody in connection with the arrow shooting. The victim has not been identified.

Investigators said it started when Adams and his girlfriend were fighting at the home. The victim tried to break up the fight and was shot with the hunting bow as he tried to walk away.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of killing his brother's friend with a bow and arrow during a dispute at his Southern California home.

Los Angeles County Sheriff's authorities say 23-year-old Garrett Adams was taken into custody at his Lancaster home early Saturday after the victim was fatally struck in the upper torso.

Investigators believe the victim was trying to break up an argument between Adams and his girlfriend when Adams shot him. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Adams' brother, who was friends with the victim, also tried to intervene in the dispute. He was not injured.

Adams was booked for investigation of murder and held on $1 million bail.
